Iron Sculptures by Matthew Trotta

Italian artist Matthew Trotta studied industrial mechanical engineering and lives and works in Montecchio Precalcino, Vincenza, in northern Italy.

Trotta first works out the design of his sculptures on paper, then molds the iron himself, which is a slow and arduous process. Wire is wrapped around a steel skeleton one by one filling out the body, with emphasis on structure and movement of the final piece. Here are some samples of his gorgeous sculptures…
