SUN – Old School Line Up at Warehouse Event in Brooklyn

24 May

Here Comes the SUN – After the STORM, the SUN always shines!

Twenty years ago, East Coast rave pioneers Frankie Bones, Adam X and Heather Heart launched STORM rave and helped set the stage for New York’s emerging dance culture. Original STORM rave promoters Dennis the Menace, Fredstrong and Eddy Van Raven, along with Lemar Soulflower of Soul Deep, are teaming up once again to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the New York rave scene. SUN is the long awaited follow up to STORM rave, and will showcase a main-floor DJ line up of all STORM alumni, featuring: Frankie Bones, Adam X, Lenny Dee, Superstar DJ Keoki, James Christian, and the return of DJ Scott Henry from Washington D.C. after a 2 year hiatus. Local favorites will also be featured in the upstairs lounge.

The event will be held at The Electric Warehouse, 1428 Fulton Street, Brooklyn NY, on June 25th, 2011. This massive 10,000-square-foot venue was a trolley repair station during the early 1900s, but on this night will be transformed into a multimedia extravaganza. SM Visuals will debut a state-of-the-art laser/video system that seamlessly blends high power laser graphics with full motion video. This technology will set a new standard in event production.

SUN has been seventeen years in the making. Be a part of this special night!

Just a few of the DJ’s appearing at the event:

FRANKIE BONES – STORM rave, Sonic Groove, NY/LA

The Godfather of Techno himself! Tonight we celebrate 20 years of NY rave, and you cannot talk about NY rave, or even US rave, without talking about Frankie Bones. He was the first US DJ to spin the London Orbital rave in 1989, and that UK hanger party planted the seed, which grew into the East Coast rave scene. In 1990 he opened Groove Records with his brother Adam X, and along with Heather Heart launched the now legendary STORM raves in 1991. Frankie has been a pioneer and an innovator in United States EDM, ever since its inception.

Keoki pioneered techno for the NYC club scene. His residency at Limelight’s Disco 2000 is now legendary. Keoki is the DJ to have spun the most STORM raves (apart from the Sonic Groove family). He is an innovator who has been reinventing himself and his music for two decades.

ADAM X - STORM rave, Sonic Groove, NY/Berlin

Adam X, along with his brother Frankie Bones is a founder of both Groove Records, and STORM rave. In 1995 he created the Sonic Groove record label, which he now runs from East Berlin Germany. Adam has an exhaustive discography spanning 21 years, on labels such as Peacefrog, Magnetic North, Wax Trax, CLR and Prologue. In his career, he has performed alongside Aphex Twin, Derrick May, Nitzer Ebb, Andrew Weatherall and numerous others. He’s performed at thousands of legendary events and club nights globally including Mayday, DEMF, Mutek, Berghain, Tresor, PS1, Monox and Fabric. When he is not recording and organizing events in Berlin, he is whipping his devotees into a frenzy at raves and clubs the world over.
