This beautiful animated film Mt. Head (Atama Yama) (2002) was nominated for an Oscar in 2003.

A frugal old man suddenly sprouts a leaf from the top of his head. He decides to cut it off and save it in a jar, but this becomes a repeat pattern for him, as it continually sprouts again. He decides to let it grow and this allows surreal effects to unfold during springtime.
