THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM PRESENTS A NEW TWIST FOR ITS ANNUAL GALA

The Brooklyn Museum will be partnering with Brooklyn artists to celebrate the Brooklyn Artists Ball, on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2011.

This new twist on the Museum’s longstanding annual gala will celebrate the creativity and considerable influence of Brooklyn artists. “It is incredibly exciting for the Museum to enlarge in yet another way its already major engagement with the community of artists living and working in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Artist’s Ball will commence at 6 p.m. with a special VIP cocktail reception hosted by Honorary Co-Chair Sarah Jessica Parker in the Great Hall. Read the whole article: artdaily

ASIA WEEK: ARTISTS AND GALLERIES AROUND THE WORLD COME TOGETHER TO SEND JAPAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

Artists and arts organizations around the world are coming together in a show of support for the island nation of Japan. Japan-related events in New York as part of this month’s Asia Week are being recast as tributes or fundraisers for earthquake victims, while artists in various countries are coming up with creative ways to respond to the disaster and raise needed funds for the victims and their families.

Asia Week the annual series of art exhibitions, auctions, and lectures, will take place as scheduled from March 18th through 26, 2011 with exhibitions and auctions representing art from a variety of periods and Asian countries. Read whole article: artinfo
