Book Jacket Cover Design: Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse Series

8 Dec
2010

Ever wonder who designs the jacket covers for the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series? We’ll tell you. Her name is Lisa Desimini.

Lisa Desimini graduating from School of Visual Arts in 1986 and went on to both write and  illustrate over 30 children books, and is a winner of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year award. Her artwork has graced the covers of many book covers including the John Nicholas Trilogy “Walk Two Moons“, along with Charlaine’s Southern Vampire Series and others.

She works with oils, acrylics, collage, photography and sculpture. She sometimes combines these techniques on the computer and scans in anything she can get her hands on that will lend to the design, such as fresh fruit, fabric, dish towels and wigs.

Desimini has also designed the jacket covers for Charlaine’s book “Three Bedrooms, One Corpse” and “The Sookie Stackhouse Companion“.

If you’re a follower of the Southern Vampire Series you will know that each of Desimini’s covers gives a hint on the major players (ie: the main love interest) and story in each novel. “Dead Reckoning” is the latest jacket cover for Book 11 in the series which hits stores in May 2011. This is the only other cover beside “Living Dead in Dallas” in which Sookie appears alone.
