Product Design: Samuel Wilkinson’s ‘Vessel Series’ Lighting Pendants

3 Nov
2010

Mouth blown glass forms cut across individual angles in these exquisite ‘Vessel Series’ pendants designed by Samuel Wilkinson. The outer glass wall is pierced by a fluid machined aluminium form which holds the bulb in the centre of each the volume. Every piece is totally unique as they are all mouth blown to eye, by a local master craftsman.

Samuel Wilkinson is an Industrial designer based in London. He has worked for several leading consultancies before setting up his own studio in 2007 where he continues to develop new projects, while still continuing as an independent consultant.

In 2008 Wilkinson completed his largest work, co-designing L’arbre de Flonville (seen below) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

It was the first of a few large projects to be completed as part of regeneration of an old industrial area, Le Flon. The work consists of a 16m sculptural metal tree surrounded by root benches.
