Joseph Loughborough grew up in Portsmouth, UK playing in and around creeks in the area and near the derelict boatyards. Words and references of this influence can be seen embedded into his work under layers of paint. Skateboarding for nearly 15 years in and out of cities in Europe has also added an urban feel to his work.
Here are some samples.
Loughborough states “Music’s pretty important to me when splashing or scribbling so I need lots at hand and I quite like books so it’s nice to have them about to read in between work”.
Loughborough currently has his work on show in Paris at Bateau Daphne and a forthcoming show in London, November 18, 2010. He is represented by the Red Propeller Gallery in London. Check out Joseph Loughborough’s website to see more of his paintings.
