Last Friday we did not have our usual post, so this weeks Friday Food Links certainly makes up for it. We bring you strange ice cream flavors, news spices, news that Kellog’s Brand is in trouble for it’s advertising, how to store lettuce properly, and the world’s most expensive sushi, as well as other interesting food links.
We have links to lots of vegetarian meals, and some amazing and weird dessert recipes. Grab a bite to eat before read this…it just might make your mouth water. We search the internets for food links and yummy recipes so you don’t have to. Enjoy!
Have a craving? There’s an ice cream flavor for that.
In much of the Middle East, za’atar recipes are closely guarded secrets, and there are also substantial regional variations. In Jordan, the za’atar is particularly heavy on the sumac, so it looks red. Lebanese za’atar may have dried orange zest; Israeli za’atar (adopted from Arab communities much like the American adoption of salsa) often includes dried dill.
The most common herbs are thyme and oregano, and they make up the bulk of the blend. Marjoram, mint, sage, or savory are also common.
