Unique Watch ‘Koi in a Pond’ is a Piece of Art

Angular Momentum debuts their new Aquarium model timepiece, part of their Artisan Timepiece Collection. ‘A Koi in a muddy pond’ comes engraved in 925 silver, purple gold with a Ruthenium treated surface. The Koi fish has a diamond eye and the black mud is black ‘Ishime’ style Urushi ground.  Urushi is sap that is tapped from the trunk of the Lacquer Tree also called Varnish Tree and Japanese Lacquer Tree.

This is done by cutting the trunk of a 10 year old tree horizontally 5-10 times, and then collecting the greyish yellow sap that exudes. The sap is then filtered, heat-treated, or coloured before applying onto a base material that is to be lacquered.

Angular Momentum of Switzerland is a small, independent watch manufacturer based in Bern. The majority of Angular Momentum’s yearly production are bespoken timepieces and very small and limited editions.
