LOCAL FOOD AUCTIONED AS FINE ART
As part of this year’s Eat Drink Local Week (September 26-October 6, 2010) hosted Edible magazines and GrowNYC, Sotheby’s will be hosting a special auction of food items and culinary experiences on September 23rd that celebrate the local flavors of New York State called “Farm to Table: The Art of Farming”.

ANOTHER BEEF RECALL, 35,000 POUNDS WORTH
About 35,000 pounds of ground beef has been recalled by a Southern California meat distributor for potential E. coli contamination. The affected beef was produced by the South Gate Meat Co. between June 7 and 21. It was shipped to Los Angeles area restaurants. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service discovered the problem through microbial sampling which found a positive result for E. coli O157:H7. via
The name could pass for an Indie music group moniker, but it’s far from being musically related. It’s whipped cream that is infused with alcohol. No need to refrigerate it, in fact if you do, it will cause the alcohol to separate from the cream. Imagine what this could do for bedroom antics. You could leave it by your bedside at all times.

Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin.
