Straws are not just for sipping as we can see by the amazing straw sculptures produced by artist Evan Blackwell who takes recycling to the next level.

Plastic straws, heat altered and fused.

Made from 3,700 plastic straws, with aluminum  and steel. Since the straws didn’t fully line up an optical phenomenon occurrs. Throughout the day and night the straw mass glowed from the different qualities of light.

See more of Evan Blackwell’s amazing sculptures made out of other recycled objects, such as hangars, plastic spoons and cups on his website. His work can be seen in August at the Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai, CHina.
