Mondrian Inspired Sideboard Escalates Furniture Into Art

Portugal based design firm Boca Do Lobo fuses old world handcrafting with modern age aesthetics to produce artistic pieces of furniture. Boca Do Lobo is currently presenting some of their most notable pieces at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show at Pier 94 in New York City, that runs till March 21, 2010, like this Mondrian inspired sideboard.

One of their limited edition designs is the Mondrian Sideboard, a millennial version of the Wooton Desk. Like the famous lines of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian’s nonrepresentational canvases, the BL sideboard includes squares and rectangles of varying sizes and finishes, from glass to leather to lacquer. Furthering the comparison are the Mondrian Sideboard’s drawers, some of which are lined with fabric in primary colors. Read whole article: 3rings
